north side of the vast Sierra Morena<\/strong>, stretching from the Guadiana River to the border of Andalusia, holds\u00a0<strong>the largest Holm Oak Dehesa Valley of Europe<\/strong>\u00a0(110 km. long, 20 km. wide) and some of the best patches of Oaks (<em>Quercus pyrenaica<\/em>) of Spain, in which is the southern border of this unique specie in Europe.<\/p>\n<p>Located in just one hour by road from Almagro, this place, very difficult to traverse due the lack of roads and bad tracks conditions, is the newest jewel of the Spanish Natural Parks and one of\u00a0<strong>the most beautiful surprises<\/strong>\u00a0when visiting La Mancha.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-56e98a6 e-flex parts:<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e04f7d7 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"e04f7d7\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-419714d elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"419714d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-settings=\"{&quot;_animation&quot;:&quot;none&quot;}\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>1- The Valle de Alcudia itself.<\/strong>\u00a0Over one hundred and ten km. long from the Sierra de San Lorenzo to the old mining town of Almaden (<strong>oldest mercury mines in the world<\/strong>) covered with thousands of Holm Oaks in a\u00a0<strong>savanna like landscape<\/strong>\u00a0that is considered\u00a0<strong>the most wonderful vision of La Mancha<\/strong>. This unique place is home of a brilliant plethora of birds that uses the valley for hunting or feeding, such as the big three Eagles of Spain:\u00a0<strong>Golden, Spanish Imperial and Bonelli\u2019s<\/strong>, or three species of Vultures\u00a0<strong>(Black, Griffon &amp; Egyptian)<\/strong>. Rupell\u2019s Vultures &amp; Lamergeiers have been recorded inside the park, but are rarely seen.<\/p>\n<p>Large extensions of the valley were converted in\u00a0<strong>grasslands<\/strong>\u00a0for cattle (mostly sheep &amp; cows), so these places are now considered as steppes areas where you can find several lark species such as Skylark,\u00a0<strong>Calandra, Wood,<\/strong>\u00a0Crested &amp;\u00a0<strong>Thekla<\/strong>. There is a very\u00a0<strong>small population of Great Bustard<\/strong>, but encounters are not easy in the great plains of the valley. Two species of Shrikes (Woodchat &amp;<strong>\u00a0Iberian Grey<\/strong>) and several species of Corvidae (Raven, Red-Billed Chough, Jackdaw, Jay, Spotless Starling and the\u00a0<strong>endemic Azur-Winged Magpie<\/strong>) are the most common birds that can be seen in the area, though the highlights of the park are small and medium size raptors such as\u00a0<strong>Black-Shouldered Kite, Short-Toed &amp; Booted Eagles<\/strong>, Black &amp; Red Kites, European Buzzard, Common &amp; Lesser Kestrels, Sparrowhawk,\u00a0<strong>Goshawk &amp; Peregrine Falcon<\/strong>. The Montoro, Tablillas &amp; Cabra rivers are feeding sites for\u00a0<strong>Black Storks<\/strong>, birds that, on migration,\u00a0<strong>may be concentrated by hundreds<\/strong>\u00a0in the western side of the valley.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ebfe9b2 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con Madrona and all the chains of mountains that surrounds the valley.<\/strong>\u00a0With the\u00a0<strong>highest elevations of all Sierra Morena<\/strong>\u00a0(over 1.300 m.a.s.l.) and some of the<strong>\u00a0deepest valleys<\/strong>\u00a0of the center of Spain, this breath-taking mountain range covered with ancient Holm, Gall &amp; Pyrenean Oaks (<em>Quercus pyrenaica)<\/em>\u00a0is the nesting place of mostly of the birds of prey that uses every day the stunning Valle de Alcudia for feeding.<\/p>\n<p>High &amp; abrupt cliffes host\u00a0<strong>all the eagles species of Spain<\/strong>, but are also home of very interesting mammals species such as\u00a0<strong>Iberian Ibex (endemic subspecie of Sierra Madrona)<\/strong>, Roe Deer, Muflon,\u00a0<strong>Red Deer (endemic subspecie of Sierra Morena)<\/strong>, Red Squirrel,\u00a0<strong>Wild Cat, Wild Boar,<\/strong>\u00a0Red Fox,\u00a0<strong>Otter<\/strong>, etc.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Just in the border with Andalusia, Sierra Madrona ends and begins the Sierra de Andujar<\/strong>\u00a0&amp; the Sierras de Carde\u00f1a y Montoro, natural places for the most endangered wild cat in the world: the\u00a0<strong>Iberian Lynx<\/strong>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e60be11 e-flex
